02/06/2012 - Baltimore, MD (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Baltimore Orioles have traded pitcher Jeremy Guthrie to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for pitchers Jason Hammel and Matt Lindstrom.
Guthrie was Baltimore's opening day starter in 2011 and posted a record of 9-17 with a 4.33 earned run average in 34 games, including 32 starts, last year.
The 32-year-old right-hander spent five years with the Orioles after being claimed off waivers from Cleveland before the 2007 season. He has a career mark of 47-65 with a 4.19 ERA in 177 games, all but 16 of which have come with Baltimore.
Before the trade became official, Guthrie leaked word of it via his Twitter account, writing, "Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Baltimore anymore."
Guthrie soon after thanked the Orioles organization for giving him a chance after Cleveland gave up on him following 16 appearances over three seasons.
"I'm grateful for my 5 yrs spent in a special baseball city playing for an organization rich in tradition," he later tweeted.
Hammel will join his third team after pitching for Tampa Bay from 2006-08 and Colorado from 2009-11. The 29-year-old right-hander is 34-45 with a 4.99 ERA in 169 career games, including 115 starts, and was 7-13 with a 4.76 ERA in 32 games, 27 starts, in 2011.
Lindstrom was 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 63 appearances last season, his lone year with the Rockies. The 31-year-old righty is 12-15 with 45 saves and a 3.81 ERA in five seasons with Florida, Houston and Colorado.
